LIGHTS, POSITIONS AND ACTION!

Have you ever wondered when you purchase a property in America why it looks like the perfect home, the way that the sofa is positioned to the lighting, even the carpet looks like it belongs? There are two things that come to mind when I see this, either the sellers have an impeccable taste or they really really want to sell their home...?

Actually, it is simple, it is staged. Estate Agents across America for many years have used professionals who have one task, to make a property look and feel like home to the potential buyer. Here in the UK, this is not really something we do. Traditionally, a buyer would run around like a headless chicken, putting all the things that they don't want potential buyers to see into cupboards, draws even under the sofa. However, over the last several years, home staging agencies have begun to surface in London, giving potential sellers and estate agents the option for professionals who understand how to make a home presentable to buyers, no matter who they are and where they are from. But it is more than just making your home more appealing, it gives the buyer a vision of what the home could look like should they purchase the property.

A firm that is making waves in London called Yohan May Interiors, founded by Michele Atijas and Amber Friederichs who have access to amazing brands that they use when working on a property. It is said [according to the Home Staging Report 2019] that when done correctly, home staging can increase viewings by 94% and sell twice as fast as a home that hasn't been staged. I can definitely see this being true.

The agency, Yohan May Interiors, was founded in 2015, born out of necessity when Amber was unable to find a home staging agency that offered the personal touch that she was looking for. It is these kind of experiences that make brands like this special, they have genuine purpose and interest in the business.

Chelsea Creek - Inspired by the relationship interior design has with art, we transformed an art gallery on the King’s Road into a studio apartment showcasing our style and favorite artists.

Fulham Lion House 1: For our private client's family home, a custom designed shelving in the living room, complimented by a stunning Wendy Morrison rug and marble coffee table. The Tom Dixon Melt light takes centre stage.

Knightsbridge bathroom: A complete transformation of an old dated bathroom. We created a stunning arabescato marble bathroom for our client who was renting their property and needed to update it.

Fulham Lion House 2: In the office, a striking red contrasts with an aqua velvet club chair and concrete desk. A Wendy Morrison rug grounds the scheme for our private client.

So what can Yohan May do for you? The agency offers different services depending on what you are looking for, so for example if you are selling, they can stage the home, they can also stage a home if you rent the property out too. My favorite services is when you can ask them advise on how best to not stage but decide the layout of your new home. The number of times I have been asked, does the dining room table look better here or over there? And when it comes to cost, actually the rates are super competitive.

I can tell you from personal experience when you are selling a property or if you are showcasing a project how important it is to create an environment were visitors and guests feel like they are home, and if only I had known about Yohan May Interiors earlier, I know for a fact that I would be using them for my own clients and members today.
