SLEEP IN COMFORT WITH A SAVOIR BED

You spend over a third of your life in your bed and making sure that you get a good quality bed is very important as it could affect your mental and physical health. Most people think that while you are sleeping that your mind is resting, taking a breather when it is consolidating all the skills and information that you took in during the day and then shifted to more efficient and permanent parts of the brain. In short, your mind is practising what you have learnt during the day.

With that in mind, I reached out to a company that understands beds, a brand that has been making beds since 1905. In fact, their first tailormade bed was made for The Savoy Hotel in London. They can make a bed to any size, shape, standalone or sport a bespoke headboard. If you have dreamt of having a particular style of bed, then Savoir can make it happen. Here I have selected three beds from their collection that make a statement but can be customised to your taste.

Let’s start with Holly 07 which was designed by Ben Burdon-Cooper who has a keen interest in industrial design and you can see this in the bed with a hint of traditional styling. You also have an oversized headboard with restained buttoning and piped edges. This fantastic bed took over 70 hours of production.

A full No 3 bedset (UK Super King) with Holly headboard starts from £20,194.50.

Creative Designer, Mandeep Dillon designed my second choice called Winston 04. The bed is upholstered in a soft, buttery leather giving it a very natural and authentic style. The addition of boxsprings gives off a contemporary edge. An ultra luxurious full aniline leather, Whistler’s ‘Rhodes’ in Farmers Tan was the perfect upholstery material, featuring a smooth, natural finish. Speaking about her choice of fabric, Mandeep Dillon says, “It took months of searching to find a suitable quality and colour of leather. After rejecting over 40 samples, I found exactly the right shade and feel at Whistler. This leather has a very natural, smooth softness and is a timeless, warm tan colour.” Mandeep adds, “I wanted to create a design that, whilst very current, will survive the trend-driven world of interiors, and remain a classic style. Details like the angled brass legs are important, as they take the same, angular shape as the bed, while the square stitched panels are inspired by Corbusier’s Barcelona chair.”

A full No 2 bedset (UK Super King) with Winston headboard starts from £32,993.

The last bed that I think that you should look at is the Gorrivan 01 which was designed by Philip Gorrivan who is known for his cosy and eclectic interior design projects. Philip has a unique sense of colour which is demonstrated through his designs. The bed that he has here encompasses his idea of ‘classic life... unexpected style’. The features are bold; the checked fabric was taken from Philip’s range for Duralee. Named Highland Court, the 100% wool fabric features a subtle hounds-tooth and check print in patina and olive shades. Savoir is known for collaborating with designers, such as Nicky Haslam, Virginia White and Mary Fox Linton.

The collaborative Gorrivan bed can be recreated with the help of Savoir’s team from £20,052.50.

THE ART OF A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

Savoir Beds recently announced a new bed collection in partnership with The National Gallery and Andrew Martin making this Savoir’s latest step into the art world. The National Gallery has one of the most beautiful and vast art collections in the world, and now, any one of the paintings within the gallery can be upholstered on to a Savoir headboard and base from a Monet to a Degas and a Turner to a Rembrandt, to make your very own unique bed.
