THIS IS THE GREATEST FOOD HAVEN IN THE WORLD!

Welcome to Sao Paulo in Brazil, home to some of the most stunning museums, cultural centres, bars and restaurants in the world. There are over 15,000 bars and over six thousand pizzerias scattered across the city, which is why it is known as the ‘Capital da Pizza (pizza capital). The city is also the Latin American capital of trade fairs and events, and for you art lovers you have Museu De Arte de Sao Paulo which has a collection of over eight thousand pieces of European Art.

Let’s be honest here, the city is pure magic, and for those of you haven’t visited, why?

So, let me help you get started by recommending a place to stay, somewhere that is secluded, private and feels like home.

Palácio_Tangará_3970.jpg

Palacio Tangara, home to 59 suites with access to your very own balcony or terrace with views of the park, and world-renowned Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who is in charge of the hotel’s gastronomy.

The doors to this hotel were opened in June 2017, surrounded by Burle Marx Park which was developed by a wealthy Brazilian ‘Baby Pignatari’ as a romantic gesture for his wife in the late 40’s. The landscape of the gardens was design by Roberto Burle. The property was initially intended to be Tangara Ranch, but unfortunately, Baby Pignatari’s marriage failed, and the dream was dead. It’s was Oekter Collection who later acquired the palace making this their first property in Latin America.

The beauty of this palace is that you are five minutes from the city, but surrounded by lush green forest from the park. It is quiet and the perfect place to escape from the city.  The main reason I love this hotel is that of their top two suites, Panamby Suite and The Grand Suite São Paulo (know as the Royal Suite) feel like you are at home. I have been to a lot of hotels, but this one stays with you.

Suite Panamby has room perfect for a family to relax with 2303 sq.ft of luxurious space and your very own terrace. The rooms are light with tall ceilings and large windows which allow a vast amount of light in, so you never feel couped up. It also comes with a stunning master bedroom with a rather large master bathroom and a separate living area for entertaining, and private office. Cost for this suite from 23,500 Brazilian Real (approx. £5,260) per night.

If the Panamby suite is not big enough for you, then I think the Royal Suite Sao Paulo is the one for you. With over 3,000 sp.ft of space and enormous terrace which is perfect for hosting special events. This suite feels like an apartment, almost like home from home. Whether you are staying here as a couple or a family, you can’t help but feel relaxed. Throughout the suite, earthy colours compliment the rooms and with extra tall ceilings give an airy feel. The decor is simple yet stylish. The Royal Suite costs from 26,800 Brazilian Real (approx. £5,998) per night.

As I mentioned earlier, this city is known for its food, and at the hotel, you have Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten who operates over 30 restaurants in cities such as New York, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo. For Jean-George this is his first partnership with Oetker Collection and his first venture into South America. You have two restaurants at your disposal, the first one is more formal called Tangará Jean-Georges and the other for more relaxed dining is the Parque Lounge and Terrace.

Tangará Jean-George, located on the ground floor overlooking the Burle Marx Park offers a very memorable dining experience. With dishes made with local fresh ingredients, you can rest assured that your taste buds are in for a treat. Brazil is known for its fertile land, which means you have plenty of fresh fruit for you to take advantage of the locally inspired cocktails. The restaurant also boasts a carefully curated wine cellar with over 180 different wines. The Parque Lounge and Terrace are for those days where you want to relax by the pool drinking a cocktail. The menu is also very impressive, with a few hidden gems that will surprise you.

Just in case you have eaten and drunk a little too much, you have the on-site Spa with an indoor pool. They have several different treatments from Phyto-Aromatic Facials and body treatments to a Therapeutic Bath. There is also a gym too, not that you will need it with the amount of exploring to be done in the city.

In summary, this is one the most beautiful hotels in South America from one of my favourite hotel brands in the world. The attention to detail, the location and the city, it ticks all the boxes when I am looking to get away, whether it is with family or as a couple. Nothing has been left to chance, and for those of you who know me, I love a hotel with a ‘WOW’ factor, and I am not disappointed one little bit.

FYI the cost for the rooms doesn’t include the five percent VAT and the local daily tourism tax. Make sure you check with the hotel when booking and get the correct total costs for the suites before you begin your travels.
